Denver has always been on my bucket list!
This year, I was lucky enough to attend AdventureELEVATE North America 2025 in Denver as a partially hosted media —so of course, I couldn’t pass up the chance to connect with the adventure travel community and see the city up close. All opinions in this piece are my own.
Below is a quick weekend itinerary overview.

Denver Weekend Itinerary Day 1

Union Station
The Union Station is the perfect stop first thing in the morning. It’s a crossroads of fast-casual eateries, local bookstores, unique stays, and shops within a charming, historic ambiance. Wander around the station to explore the various books at Tattered Cover Book Store, or check out the offbeat jewelry at 5 Green Boxes.
During my second day in the city, I went with some friends to Union Station for a cup of matcha and gluten-free pastries to start the day. It was an breezy, flat 10-15 minute walk from my hotel, Hotel Teatro, which I loved.
Walkable cities are the best!
I loved the grab and go options at Terminal Bar Kitchen, while Snooze, an AM Eatery seemed like brunch lover’s paradise. It’s on my list for my next visit!
While I love matcha, some of my friends preferred coffee. We headed to Pigtrain Coffee Co for fair-trade brews and a chic, pink-accented atmosphere to grab a cup to go.
💡 You can book a downtown hotel here – it’s the most convenient way to enjoy the city for weekend.
Coors Field Stadium

Only two blocks away from the Union Station is the Coors Field Stadium. This is hands-down one of best downtown baseball stadiums I’ve been to due to the stunning architecture and location. The stadium is beautifully designed with a red brick exterior, a giant clock tower, and bronze statue called The Player.
Walk around the stadium to admire the architectural design or if you’re lucky, catch a Colorado Rockies game.
Even though the Rockies weren’t playing when I was visiting, I did have the chance to enjoy the inside of the stadium during the AdventureELEVATE opening party. I loved the rustic feel and retro ambiance as we laughed the night away!
My friends explained that watching a game here is top activity to add to any Denver travel guide.
💡 You can grab Colorado Rockies tickets here.
Blue Bear

Blue Bear is an iconic site you don’t want to miss in Denver! This 40-foot-tall blue bear statue is leaning against the glass and peeking inside the Colorado Convention Center lobby. Created by Lawrence Argent, a local artist, this statue invites locals and visitors to discover a spirit of playfulness and just have fun.
I rode under the Blue Bear on an ebike tour and it instantly bought me childlike joy. It was a priceless moment that left me feeling more alive and connected to myself!
Get ready to snap some pictures, laugh, and channel your inner sense of playfulness and joy.
Larimer Square and Downtown Denver

Larimer Square is the heartbeat of downtown Denver, Colorado—buzzing with vibrant energy and a spirited, historic charm. This picturesque city block was recently remodeled and now serves as the creative hub of the downtown area.
I loved visiting this square because it truly captured the spirit of Denver! From eateries and vintage shops to an underground speakeasy and wellness spa, I’m happy I had local friends explain it’s fascinating history.
Since I was traveling with friends, I didn’t book a city tour. I personally love guided tours because it makes learning about a new city fun, convenient, and you can make new friends. That said, if you’re looking to make the most of your weekend in Denver, a guided tour with take you to the local hot spots.
💡 You can book a historic lower downtown tour here, in Denver’s oldest neighborhood.
After, grab some food at Bao Brewhouse, a local Chinese street restaurant, or head to Tamayo for Mexican food in a chic setting. Then, enjoy an afternoon-pick-me up coffee from Huckleberry Roasters or a refreshing vegan ice-cream from Van Leeuwen. I love how creamy this dairy-free ice cream is!
Meow Wolf
A visit to Meow Wolf is an excellent way to spend your late afternoon and evening. This museum features an immersive art and sci-fi adventure that will transport you to a different dimension. From intriguing sculptures and interactive exhibits to spaces that transcend time and space, there’s something here for everyone to enjoy.
The museum is open daily, but times do vary.

- Friday and Saturday: 10:00am-11:00pm

Denver Weekend Itinerary Day 2

Rent an ebike or go ebike tour
One of the best things to do in Denver is to ride an ebike. I love biking because it’s the most convenient and quickest way to explore the city’s iconic landmarks and natural attractions. Rent an e-bike to explore at your own pace, or join a guided tour with a local operator to get the full Denver experience.
I booked a tour with Colorado ebike Tours! The journey began at the Mile High Empower Field, then we leisurely peddled along the dreamy South Platte River bike path.
During the tour we stopped at Confluence Park, marveled at murals in the RiNo Art District, rode past Coors Field, and waved hello to the Blue Bear at the Denver Convention Center. We rode past the Colorado State Capitol Building and ended back at the Empower Field.
I loved immersing myself in Denver’s arts and culture scene–it was full of character and creativity. I highly recommend adding this to your weekend itinerary! Also, I’m a huge fan of booking tours in advance to secure a spot, and Viator is my site to find great deals on tours.
💡 You can reserve now, and pay later for these guided e-bike tours.
RiNo Art District

After getting a taste of the RiNo Arts District during the biking tour, you’ll want to head over to explore this cultural hub on foot. From colorful murals and working studios to historic warehouses and buzzing restaurants, this district blends creative flair with industrial charm.
Stop in the Colorado-based gear shop, Topo Designs, for new travel gear or get inspired by the contemporary ceramic artwork found at the Plinth Gallery.
Don’t forget to grab a cold refreshing gluten-free cider at Stem Ciders or a sweet chocolately snack from Temper Chocolates and Confections. I absolutely loved their vegan dark chocolate – it was the perfect combination of creamy bitter sweetness. I even bought some home as a souvenir (although it never made it past the airport)!
Denver Central Market

The Denver Central Market is nestled in the colorful RiNo Art District and it’s the best place to grab lunch. With 11 top-notch vendors, this market is your ticket to a food and drink paradise. Whether you’re gluten-free, vegan, or something in-between, you’re bound to find something satisfying in this artsy food market.
Choose your own food adventure– grab gluten-free pizza from Vero Italian, fish tacos from Tammens Fish Market, or a bagel sandwich from the deli, Call Your Mother. You’ll also find freshly scooped ice cream (they have vegan options), coffee, and more in this indoor and outdoor market.
Relax in this vibrant atmosphere and bon appetite!
Denver Botanical Gardens

Exploring the Denver Botanical Gardens is one of my favorite things to do in Denver. Sitting on 24-acres, these gardens showcase the astounding plant diversity that thrives at such high altitude. From desert landscapes and globally-inspired gardens to tranquil water gardens and shady escapes, you’ll find endless inspiration at every turn.
For starters, I highly recommend beginning at the Ornamental Gardens, my favorite! I loved strolling among the spring flowers–from delicate irises, colorful lilies, and red roses–it was stunning and tranquil experience.
I also enjoyed learning about the different arid plants that thrive in desert at the Gardens of the West. After I explored the tranquil Shady Garden, and surprisingly found a warm invitation to pause for a moment and relax under a tree.
You can expect to spend about 1.5-2.5 hours exploring these stunning gardens. While the gardens are open daily, closing hours do vary.
- Sunday to Wednesday: 9:00am-7:00pm
- Thursday: 9:00am-1:00pm
- Friday and Saturday: 9:00am-5:00pm
Tickets are $16.00 per adult, but Viator offers a small discount – wohoo!

Regardless of the season, a guided tour of the Red Rocks is still one of the best things to do!
I love tours because you don’t need to rent a car for weekend getaways. It’s convenient and the best perk is making new friends along the way! I can’t tell you how many new friends I’ve made (and still talk too) from guided group tours.

Day trip to Rocky Mountain National Park

Less than two hours away from Denver, Colorado is Rocky Mountain National Park. This stunning park features a wide array of natural wonders ranging from massive glaciers and snowcapped mountaintops to shimmering lakes and green meadows.
My friend and I took a quick day trip here, and the views alone totally made the drive worth it! We rented a car, pack lots of allergy-friendly snacks, then road tripped to the Rockies.
Some of the best hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park are:
- Nymph Lake and Dream Lake – I loved winding through the wooded trees to see the stunning lakes separated by colorful fields of wildflowers.
- Emerald Lake – This 3.3 mile out and back hike led us to the most beautiful clear lake surrounded by lush trees.
- Trail Ridge Road – Buckle up for a scenic byway drive into the alpine tundra—it was pure mountain magic. Seeing the majestic views with my dear friend, easily made it the highlight of my trip.
Since we were visiting during May, Timed Entry Reservations were required and we purchased the Timed Entry + Bear Lake Road. These reservations are needed from May 23 until October 19. You can get yours here.

I recommend trying Locust Cider in Fort Collins for a laid-back food scene and Blue Agave Grill if you’re craving Mexican food!
When’s the best time to visit Denver?

Denver is a great destination year-around, but the best time to visit depends on what you’re interested in.
If you enjoy fewer crowds and milder weather, then the shoulder seasons are great for a weekend getaway. The shoulder seasons are April, May, September, and October.
I visited late May and absolutely loved my experience! I was able to wear comfortably shorts and attend one of the biggest festivals for outdoor fanatics, The Outside Festival. For more festival vibes, concerts, and endless sunshine, summer will be your best time to visit.
From November to January, Denver gets pretty cold and snowy, so it’s the best season for snowbirds. Some popular activities include ice skating, playing in the snow, and visiting the stunning lights display (Blossoms of Lights) at the Denver Botanical Gardens.
How to get around Denver?

Denver is an extremely walk-able city. I found that many of the attractions downtown are within walking distance of each other. Oftentimes I would stick to one area to fully explore what that part of town has to offer before jetting off to another area.
This trick can save your feet (and your pocket) so you’re not driving all over town.
Besides walking, biking is another great way to get around town! The streets are bike friendly with wide bike lanes and paths throughout the city.
If you flew into to town and are planning to travel outside of Denver, renting a car from the airport will give you the most flexibility and freedom. Keep in mind, hotels may charge for car parking just like hotels near Disneyland.
If you’re not renting a car, I suggest Ubering or taking the bus. I’ve rode both in Denver and found them to be safe and reliable.
Where to stay in Denver for the weekend?

Hotel Teatro
Hotel Teatro is a history lovers paradise! This historic downtown hotel is elegantly designed with modern finishes. It features oversize soaking tubs, stunning views of the city and blackout curtains for a peaceful slumber.
I was thoroughly impressed by The Study–a cozy retreat for unwinding by the grand bookcase–and enjoyed grabbing drink at the bar while I people watched through the giant windows. Any other avid people watchers?
But, what I love most about this hotel is it’s centralized location–and breakfast! Start the day with a complimentary breakfast burrito before heading to Larimar Square, just a short walk away. And yes, they offer a gluten-free or vegan option too.
💡 Book your stay at this historic hotel.

The Embassy Suites by Hilton Denver Central Park
One of the best hotels for a weekend getaway is the Embassy Suites by Hilton Denver Central Park. This hotel is conveniently located near the Denver International Airport and the Denver Zoo. Can someone say prime location!
In addition, you’ll find suite-style rooms, modern amenities, an indoor swimming pool, a sauna, and parking, which is helpful if you’re road tripping to Denver. Fuel up with a personalized, cook-to-order breakfast before heading out to explore the city.
💡 Stay in style at this modern suite-style hotel.
Hyatt House Denver/Downtown
If you’re looking for a hotel downtown, the Hyatt House Denver/Downtown is a great option. Located 0.3 miles from downtown, this hotel is centrally located to some great attractions like the Denver Art Museum and the Union Station.
The stay also includes a complimentary breakfast. From a mini-market and bar to a fitness center and indoor pool, guests can relax in this comfortable hotel while soaking up views of the city.
