What You Need to Know — The Wellness Travel Expert

So, what is Sacred Renewal?

Sacred Renewal is an immersive 8, 11 or 15-night program inspired by yogic and Vedic philosophy, ancient healing traditions and the rhythms of the lunar cycle.

The program explores both the waxing and waning phases of the moon. In traditional philosophy, the waxing moon is associated with expansion and clarity, while the waning moon is connected with release, purification and inward reflection. Sacred Renewal works with these different qualities as part of a broader cycle of activation, integration, emergence and surrender.

Importantly, you don’t need to time your holiday around a particular moon phase. Sacred Renewal can be booked and experienced during any phase of the lunar cycle, which makes it much easier to fit around your travel plans.

There is a substantial amount included within the program, with the number of treatments and experiences increasing with the length of stay. Depending on which version you choose, the program includes experiences such as private yoga, meditation, Reiki, Shirodhara, spiritual guidance, morning rituals, elemental practices and a personal fire ceremony.

The program also draws on the Pancha Mahābhūtas, the five elemental forces of Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether, which are explored in relation to both the natural world and our own experience.

Earth is associated with grounding, structure and stability, Water with emotional flow and receptivity, Fire with purification and inner strength, Air with movement and inspiration, and Ether with space, stillness and expanded awareness.

Kamalaya has combined these ancient concepts with contemporary insights from psychology and neuroscience, which I think is another interesting part of the program. It brings together traditions that are thousands of years old with a more modern understanding of emotional and mental wellbeing.
