A different kind of wellness reset
Set against the landscape of eastern Crete, the retreat takes a more personalised approach than the traditional wellness escape. Rather than beginning with a generic schedule of yoga, spa treatments and healthy meals, it begins with your biology.
Personalised prognostic testing and microbiome insights are used to create a picture of your current gut–brain health, before the program brings together nutrition, movement, breathwork, sleep practices and targeted longevity treatments.
Across six days, the program moves through five interconnected themes — eat, breathe, move, rest and understand. Mediterranean anti-inflammatory nutrition sits alongside guided breathwork, functional movement, meditation and nervous-system practices, while Nao’s diagnostic and treatment facilities add a more technology-led dimension.
There is also plenty that feels distinctly Cretan. Guests take part in a hands-on cooking and fermentation lab, explore the landscape on a foraging experience and eat around a Cretan longevity table, connecting the science of nutrition with the food culture of the island.
From microbiome to Mediterranean table
Diet is one of the most significant factors influencing the composition and activity of the gut microbiome. Research increasingly points towards dietary patterns rich in fibre, plant foods and minimally processed ingredients as supportive of a diverse and metabolically active microbiome, while highly processed dietary patterns are associated with less favourable gut and inflammatory profiles.
Crete offers a particularly fitting setting for this conversation. The Mediterranean diet with its emphasis on vegetables, legumes, whole grains, herbs, olive oil, nuts and other minimally processed foods, has long been associated with health and longevity.
At Minos Palace, that philosophy becomes experiential rather than simply nutritional. Guests cook, ferment, forage and eat together, learning how ingredients can become part of a more sustainable everyday approach to health.
