Are you trying to decide where to stay in Miami? There are several different neighborhoods in this busy city, all with completely different vibes. You can stay in popular South Beach, the creative Design District, the business-like Brickell, or the relaxing Coconut Grove.
Whether you’re looking for a quiet, romantic getaway or one filled with exciting nightlife, here are the seven best places to stay in Miami, Florida.

Downtown Miami
While Miami is most well-known for its beaches, you can get a taste of city life here too, particularly in Downtown Miami. If the concrete jungle is your style, this is the perfect place for you! A lot of people think to stay here due to the “downtown” aspect and Bayside features.
This Miami neighborhood has something to offer every type of visitor. Shop at Bayside Marketplace, check out the stars at the Frost Museum of Science, or enjoy the dozens of rooftop bars in the area. There is also the free metro mover to get around.

Brickell
Brickell is the most popular place for business people to stay during their time in Miami and folks who want to be near nightlife. I also find it’s position in the city to be super convenient.
By staying in Brickell, you’ll be close to some of the best restaurants and public transportation in the city. Some of the most popular eateries in the neighborhood include River Oyster Bar, LPM Restaurant and Bar, and Naoe. There’s also the big mall so lots of easy shopping.
If you are choosing between Downtown Miami and Brickell, I’d recommend Brickell. There is so much construction going on downtown that Brickell seems more appealing. Go to the museums and rooftop bars of Downtown Miami and head back to base, enjoying the nightlife and fun food finds of Brickell.

South Beach
Technically, South Beach is in the town of Miami Beach, not Miami. That being said, no guide to where to stay in Miami would be complete without this exciting neighborhood.
South Beach is home to the famous Miami Beach, the Miami Beach Boardwalk, and loads of nightclubs. On top of all that, if you’re looking for beach views from your hotel, look no further than South Beach! It’s the perfect place to stay for first-time visitors and those who love a night on the town and are willing to pay a higher dollar amount for it.
Best places to stay in Miami’s South Beach neighborhood:

Coconut Grove
If the nightlife scene isn’t your style, you may want to consider staying in Coconut Grove instead. This quiet neighborhood is perfect for some rest and relaxation.
During your time in Coconut Grove, you can wander through the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, get some goodies at the Coconut Grove Saturday Organic Market, and stop and smell the flowers at The Kampong Botanical Garden. It’s the perfect place to recharge in the city.

Design District / Midtown
Calling all art lovers! The Design District is the place to be if you’re looking for an artsy vacation in the city and high-end shopping. With over 130 art galleries, frequent creative events, and tons of street art murals, there’s art everywhere you look in this Miami neighborhood. And as an added bonus, the Design District and its neighbor, Midtown also bleeds into Wynwood, another artsy district in town.
I think Wynwood is too loud at night so don’t find it to be an ideal place to stay but the fresh neighborhood of Midtown, its Edgewater neighbor, and Design District are all within (relative) walking distance from each other.
Best places to stay in Miami’s Design District:

Bal Harbour
If you want a beachfront resort but don’t want the crowds of South Beach, consider staying in luxurious Bal Harbour instead. Bal Harbour is on the same island as South Beach, just further north. While there, you can enjoy lavish accommodations, go on a high-end shopping spree, and watch the sunset at Bal Harbour Beach.

Coral Gables
Coral Gables is a little out of the way compared to other options on this list, but it’s actually the perfect Miami neighborhood for couples and those looking for a little romance.
With ivy-covered buildings and Mediterranean architecture, Coral Gables looks like it was plucked out of a fairytale! And that’s just the beginning of this magical neighborhood. I highly recommend you have a car rental in this area so you can easily get around to other places in Miami.
You can go for a swim at the historic Venetian Pool, stroll through the picture-perfect Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, and dine on a delicious brunch at the prestigious Biltmore Hotel.
